Not Just "Capital of France in 5 Letters". See What You Can Play on Knowie.net

Hi! It's Patryk here.

If you're here, you probably like to exercise your gray matter just like I do. Knowie.net was created because I missed a place on the internet that combined cool design with interesting puzzles. I'm a '90s kid, so I grew up on the internet, YouTube, and... okay, paper crosswords too.

On the site, you'll currently find several formats. Some you know from newsstands, others might be new to you. To make sure no one feels lost, I've made a quick rundown of what we have "on board".

1. The Classic, or Standard Crossword

This is the base. If you've ever solved a crossword in a newspaper, you'll feel right at home. We have a grid, and next to it a list of clues (across and down).

How does it work on Knowie?Click a square on the grid, and the list automatically scrolls to the relevant clue. You don't have to search for numbers or wander with your eyes. Pure convenience.

For whom? For traditionalists and fans of order.

Example on site: Our crossword about "Hinduism" or "Winged World".

2. Fast Action: Panoramic Crossword (Swedish-style)

My personal favorite when I only have a moment (e.g., waiting for my wife to pick a show on Netflix).

What's the deal?Definitions (clues) are written directly into the grid squares, and arrows show where to enter the answer.

Why is it great?Because you don't have to take your eyes off the board. Everything is at hand. It's the perfect format for your phone when you're on the bus or... you know, sitting in the "office" 🚽.

Example on site: "Internet Hits" crossword (yes, we know you like it).

3. Crossword with a Central Password (Spine)

This is where some tactics come in. We have one main vertical password (usually highlighted in color) which is the key to the whole fun.

Strategy:You can guess horizontal passwords to reveal letters in the vertical one. OR – if you're a pro – guess the main password right away (e.g., an anime character's name) and get free "hints" in every horizontal row.

Example on site: Our "Naruto" crossword. The yellow column in the middle is your goal!

4. Fill-in (Jolka) – Word Tetris

For those who prefer logic over encyclopedias. In this mode (often called "Fill-in"), you don't have questions. Instead, you have a "Word Bank" divided, for example, into 3-letter words, 4-letter words, etc.

Task:You have to fit the words into the grid so that everything intersects. It's a bit like putting together a puzzle or playing Tetris, but with letters.

Pro tip: Start with the longest words, they usually only fit in one place!

What do you choose for today? Head to the home page and check which format suits you best. And if you have an idea for your own crossword – go ahead, our creator is waiting!
